Philanthropy

Winter Term: SigEp Sweethearts Philanthropy

Our largest annual philanthropy, SigEp Sweethearts, was started in 2012 and brings together many sororities to participate in a week full of events that raise money for Community Outreach Inc.

The philanthropy week includes a Sorority Chant-off, Date Auction, Dodgeball Tournament, Quad Check-ins, and the culminating Sweethearts Pageant.

The Sweethearts Date Auction consists of many groups of Oregon Alpha SigEps that get together and auction themselves off to the women of Greek life. In return for purchasing a group, the men take the winning group of women on a variety of activities such as snowboarding trips, hiking trips, a night on the town in limousines, beach camping trips, cabin trips, and more.

The Sweethearts Dodgeball Tournament, held at the gymnasium at St. Mary’s Church, usually includes 15+ sorority teams that compete for the glory, all while fundraising for COI.

In 2015, the brothers raised over $15,000! This number shattered our prior records and set an amazing precedent for the future.

Spring Term: SigEp+PhiRho Spring Spike Philanthropy

Spring 2014 was our first time hosting Spring Spike, a sand volleyball tournament held at Chintimini Park by SigEp and Phi Sigma Rho. Many sororities, fraternities, and non-Greeks formed teams and competed the tournament that supported Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Although the event only raised about $2000 for the cause, the 200+ people there had a blast playing/watching volleyball, playing yard games, eating Roxy Dawgs, and enjoying the sun!
